Dorcus Leperon, a 25-year-old student at Nazarene University studying for the degree of Bachelor of Science in Environment and Natural Resource Management, believes not even the sky is a limit for her on matters of fashion.
The flashy, elegant self-made model can pose on any edition that requires a stunning beauty. Her flawless, infectious smile and rolling eyes explain the attention she gets wherever she goes. She is flexible, too, and can strike an excellent pose in different dresses and shoes, especially high heels. In fact, when it comes to shoes, the price is never the main consideration, but rather how well the footwear rhymes with her overall attire, making every step well worth the moment.
For Dorcus, going for this year’s Miss Tourism Kajiado contest was a step of faith that has strengthened her dreams in the fashion industry. She is optimistic that she will not only become Miss Tourism Kajiado one day, but also a fashion icon and international model. Her message to other young ladies is to remain focused, self-aware, and have an unshaken self-esteem.
The Ankara medium dress, coming in handy with matching heels, did not require much to attract attention.
The red stripes in her sport shoes broke the obvious monotony of black and white. A neckline was also a key point of attention.
A refreshing difference from the obvious flat shoes used for traditional wear. The blue and green ribbon on the white bead-decorated dress was superb. Ladies, too, at times display their belts to good effect.
Sanino Bless, gospel musician
Richard Saning’o, commonly known as Sanino Bless, is a young gospel musician and a student of the University of Nairobi pursuing a degree course in International Relations.
With a hair and beard cut that stands out from the crowd, Sanino has a great sense of fashion. He dons flashy, bright colours blended uniquely to catch the eye. He is his own designer, dressing for the occasion without disappointing. As circumstances warrant, the humble and soft-spoken musician mostly prefers traditional and casual wear.
Sanino dislikes wearing the obvious traditional clothes and tries to come up with unique blends that still retain a traditional flair. His traditional wear features colours outside the obvious traditional red, turning to purple and green, among others. He opts for simplicity in beads and ornaments. Shoes and belts are another fashion statement that Sanino puts into consideration — from boots and sports shoes to sneakers, loafers, and official shoes, but rarely wearing sandals.
