The police officers shot him in self-defence after he was attacked with a machete
Police detectives in Saikeri location in Kajiado West Sub County are investigating a shooting incident that later caused the death of a farmer.
The deceased summed to gunshots on Sunday morning after he was shot by a police officer on his farm on July 27.
Kajiado West Deputy County Commissioner, William Kakimoni, confirmed the shooting and said the police officer accompanied two other people to put up beacons on a farm they have purchased earlier.
“These are police reports from Ngong, I do not have complete details on how it happened. I am in Baringo right now,” said Kakimoni.
But a senior police officer from Kajiado West said the officer shot the man (name withheld) after he attacked him with a machete on his right leg.
“What happened was that the late old man was opposed to the beaconing of his land that he had sold to another man. The buyer was escorted to the land by a local chief, and when they were attacked, the officer opened fire at a close range,” said the officer, who chose anonymity.
The old man was admitted at Nairobi Women Hospital’s intensive care unit after bullets were removed by doctors after an operation.
Close family members refused to comment on the matter, saying the police are investigating the matter.
